VHDL-AMS Quick Start

One of the most powerful features of PartQuest Explore is its support for language-based behavioral component modeling. This allows you to describe practically any sort of component behavior you choose using a powerful IEEE standard modeling language - VHDL-AMS.

This tutorial covers various aspects of the VHDL-AMS language through a series of examples. These examples are structured around an open-loop motor drive design (which is only used as a vehicle with which to test the models that are used in the design). While you do not need to go through the examples in any order, it is beneficial to go through the tutorial sequentially as the overall design is being developed.

The motor drive design is shown below. All of the models in the design are developed from scratch and discussed in detail in this tutorial.

The model examples are organized into sections, each of which highlights a particular modeling topic or set of topics. Click on a link to the right to view the corresponding section.
